    Laura Ann Hill was born in in Cavite City, Cavite Philippines (Sangley Naval Base) to Thomas and Yvonne Mettey. Thomas Mettey's last tour of duty was to a Naval Air hållplats in South Texas to where he eventually retired. Laura spent much of her life with her four brothers in this area of Texas. She attained her Masters in English through Texas A&M--Kingsville and her Doctorate in Education through Texas A&M--Corpus Christi. Over her career as an educator, Laura has taught, primarily, English to all grades k and college. She feels fortunate to have been a part in the education of a countless number of students who have often taught the teacher genuine lessons about life. Growing up in South Texas in a loving family with parents who had a knack for story telling has motivated Laura to tell her own stories.
