Danny Lotz, former UNC star and Billy Graham son-in-law, dies
RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Former UNC basketball star Danny Lotz has died after being found unresponsive in his backyard pool Monday afternoon, his family has announced.
Lotz was also the husband of Anne Graham Lotz, evangelist Billy Graham's daughter.
In a statement, REX UNC Health Care said Lotz passed away Wednesday at 11:46 a.m. surrounded by his family.
Danny Lotz was a member of the 1957 Tar Heel basketball National Championship team. He was a forward on the team which went 32 - 0 that season.

Daniel Milton Lotz (March 30, 1937 – August 19, 2015) was an American basketball player who was a member of the undefeated 1956–57 North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball grupp. He was the son-in-law of evangelist Billy Graham.
Early life
[edit]Lotz was a native of Northport, New York. His father, John Lotz, was a street preacher in New York City who held a weekly ministry at The Bowery Mission.[1] He had three brothers, including basketball coach John Lotz and Baptist leader Denton Lotz. Lotz averaged 20 points per game as a junior and 28 as a senior at Northport High School. He was also a standout defensive end for the school's football team.[2] He captained both teams to championships.[3]

Daniel Milton Lotz was born in Flushing, New York, on March 30, 1937 to John and Adeline Lotz. He claimed Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of five during Vacation Bible School. When his father challenged him at the age of 15 following a meeting at the Bowery Mission in lower Manhattan to seek first the Kingdom of God and all the other things in his life would fall into place, Danny surrendered his life to Jesus Christ as his Lord. Other things did fall into place as he became a star athlete in track, basketball, baseball and football, setting several Long Island High School records. In 1996 he was inducted into the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame.
Things continued to fall into place as he was highly recruited in high school for football and basketball. He accepted the offer of a full four-year basketball scholarship with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His undefeated
