    Glykeria

For over 45 years, Glykeria has been a force on the Greek music scene, both at home and abroad. With over 25 Gold and Platinum albums to her credit and her participation in hundreds of compilations, she is—by far—one of Greece’s most prolific and popular female voices. The New York Times called her “legendary,” and The Boston Globe called her “the wonder of Greece,” following a sold out tour of North America. From Argentina to Montreal, South Africa to Scandinavia, throughout Asia and Oceania, she has earned the distinction of being called “The Voice of Greece” by the international media and millions of adoring fans.
From her first personal album in 1980, to her most recent release—the very popular “Akolouthisa ena asteri” (“I followed a star”), Glykeria’s albums have received critical acclaim and have reached the top of the charts. Her 1983 release “Me Tin Glykeria Stin Omorfi Nyhta” remains one of the biggest selling albums in Greek music history. Her repertoire succes

The original greek music tradition of the dimotika songs is kept alive for 87 years in the busy corner of Laurio Square, in the Omonoia area, of “Elatos”. Its history has been connected with people and events that marked the dimotika songs. This traditional music hall begins in 1918, just before the Minor Asia destruction. Hundreds of singers, musicians and composers have connected their career with the stage of “Elatos” where virtually all Greece has danced on it since many people traveled from all over Greece just to spend a night in “Elatos” with clarinos and violins. This live recording includes performances by: Alekos Kitsakis, Aleka Fraggouli, Thanassis Vottas, Kostas Tzimas, Nikos Papageorgiou and many more. Furthemore, there is an unexpected surprise where famous Greek singers perform in “Elatos” like Stelios Kazantzidis, Yiota Lidia, Glykeria, Takis Karnavas, Chronis Aidonidis, Petroloukas Chalki
