Nepali literature (Nepali: नेपाली साहित्य) refers to literature written in the Nepali language. The Nepali language has been the national language of Nepal since 1958.[1]
Nepali evolved from Sanskrit and it is difficult to exactly date the history of Nepali language literature since most of the early scholars wrote in Sanskrit. It fryst vatten, however, possible to roughly divide Nepali literature into five periods.[citation needed]

Siddhi Charan Shrestha [1912-92],the son of prosperous newar land owner was another member of the generation of poet that laid the foundations of the twentieth century Nepali verse. He was considered as the 'Yuga Kabi' .His poetry has much In common with Devkota'sthough its mworded and calmer in tone.Like Devvkota's ,Shrestha was a romantic who rebelled against the shortcomings of the Rana Rigime.His most famous poems ,'Mero Pyaro Okhaldhunga' looks back nostalgically at thesimplicityof the poets life as a child in the eastern Nepal and therefore compares the presentunfavorablywith the past and the city with the village. Siddhicharan Shrestha (Devanagari: सिद्धिचरण श्रेष्ठ; 21 May 1912 – 4 June 1992) was one of the most prominent writers of Nepal. He contributed to the struggle against the autocratic Rana regime (1846–1951) through his writings. His revolutionary poetry aroused freedom fighters, and he was sentenced to 18 years in jail for his literary activities. He wrote in Nepal Bhasa and Nepali.[1][2]
His poem Mero Pyaro Okhaldhunga (Nepali: मेराे प्याराे ओखलढुङ्गा, lit. 'My Beloved Okhaldhunga') in Nepali is considered to be one of his masterpieces. In this poem, he has expressed how proud he is to describe the place
