OK, I'll admit it, I was skeptical.
Gaelic Storm had gone from relative obscurity to a high-profile debut release, all hinged on the band's lively, but brief appearance in the much-hyped blockbuster movie, Titanic. inom never even saw the movie until late in , refusing to give into the rabid craze until a copy of the film was pressed into my hands. (All right, I'll say it: it was a pretty good film.)
Still, it didn't seem enough to base a band's meteoric rise to fame, even though other bands had tried, and often failed, a similar feat. (How quickly did the Drovers fade from view after their startlingly good trombone-and-fiddle performance in Blink?)
Well, Titanic notwithstanding, Gaelic Storm deserves its new acclaim.

Samantha has played with every major orchestra in London including the London Symphony, Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, English National Opera and Royal Opera House Orchestras. Further afield she has appeared as Co-Leader with BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Principal 2nd with Bournemouth Symphony, English National and Northern Ballets. She has performed in most of the great concert halls and cities of Western Europe, and toured around 40 different countries.
She has appeared annually from at the BBC Proms, on BBC TV/Radio 3 broadcasts and multiple ‘LSO Live’ recordings. She has worked with a host of eminent conductors including Sir Colin Davis, Gergiev, Pappano, Rattle, Boulez, Previn, Nelsons, Gatti, Xavier Roth, Bychkov, Alsop, Eliot Gardiner, Elder, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Harding and Petrenko.
As a chamber musician, she was a prize winner with the Royal Overseas League, Park Lane Group and Tunnell Trust.

Gaelic Storm is an American Celtic band founded in Santa Monica, California, in Their musical output includes pieces from traditional Irish music, Scottish music, and original tunes in both the Celtic folk and Celtic rock genres. The band appeared in the film Titanic and recorded songs on the movie's soundtrack album,[1] and has released more than a dozen of their own albums.

[edit]In , Patrick Murphy and Steve Wehmeyer joined with Steve Twigger, drummer Shep Lonsdale, fiddler Samantha Hunt, and Uillean piper Brian Walsh to perform at O'Brien's Irish Pub and Restaurant in Santa Monica, California, of which Murphy was the manager. This led to a number of pub performances for the next year.
