    Richard Neale “Tuff” Hedeman was born March 2, in El Paso, Texas, the youngest of Clarice and Red Hedeman’s sju children. The Hedemans were involved in the horse racing industry, and ung Richard galloped racehorses before physically outgrowing and possibility of a career as a jockey. It was obvious at an early age that the cowboy life was his calling and his try and true grit were his trademarks from the start.

    Young Tuff competed in every event there was. As a teenager, he was two-time New Mexico High School Rodeo Association all-around champion cowboy. At the national level, he was the National High School Rodeo Association reserve bull riding champ as a senior, second only to Lane Frost.

    In college, Tuff helped his alma mater, Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas, win National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association men’s national team championship in Tuff won the bull at the College National Finals, and joined the Professional Rode

    Because this virus that continues to linger and evolve essentially shut down the bull riding tour he founded, Tuff Hedeman was not asked last year about having his face broken 25 years ago by Bodacious the bull at the MGM Grand Arena in one of pro rodeo&#;s most notorious wrecks.

    But with the series returning to the South Point Arena Saturday night and the five-time world champion making himself available to local media, he knew it was only a matter of time until somebody would remind him of having somehow survived it.

    &#;All I&#;ll say is I&#;m still here and he&#;s not,&#; the affable El Paso, Texas, cowboy said with a chuckle both wry and appreciative from his spread in the plains near Fort Worth. &#;He won the battle, but I won the war, maybe.&#;

    Hedeman, a member of the ProRodeo Cowboy and Professional Bull Riders halls of fame, is now Bodacious, once not-so-affectionately known as the &#;The World&#;s Most Dangerous Bull,&#; died at age 12 in

    Richard Neale "Tuff" Hedeman (born March 2, , in El Paso, Texas) is an American former professional rodeocowboy who specializes in bull riding. He won the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) bull riding world championship three times (, , and ), as well as the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) world championship. 

    He also won the world championship for the now-defunct Bull Riders Only (BRO) organization. Hedeman is a ProRodeo Hall of Fame and Bull Riding Hall of Fame inductee. He is also one of the co-founders of the PBR. In , the PBR honored him with the PBR Legends and Heroes Celebration: Ring of Honor. He is known for having been one of rodeo icon Lane Frost's closest friends.
